If your Xbox Controller S cable isn't working, use this guide to replace the cable. The cable is what allows the controller to be connected to the console. Steps 4 and 5 require you to use a soldering iron. This video link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGawz0kuOe4) will be helpful for your device repair

Tools: Soldering Gun / Iron and Solder; Solder Wick Braid; Isopropyl Alcohol (90% or Greater); Phillips #00 Screwdriver; Solder ROHS Lead Free Rosin Core

Parts: Xbox Controller S Connection Cable

Step 1
[step 1 photo]
• Remove the seven 9.4 mm screws on the back of the controller using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
• NOTE: One screw is hidden behind the sticker on the back of the controller. Peel that sticker back and remove that screw as well.

Step 2

• NOTE: Keep the controller facing down to prevent components from falling out.
• Remove the back shell.
• Flip the controller over and remove the front shell.

Step 3
[step 3 photo] [step 3 photo]
• Pop the circuit board out of the rear housing to access the cord.
• Note the order of the wires that are connected from the cable to the circuit board. These wires will need to be put back in the same configuration.

Step 4
[step 4 photo]
• Desolder the connector points from the opposite side of the board. Go back and push down on all the pins to push them out of the holes.
• NOTE: The connector will either fall out on its own or wiggle loose on the other side relatively easily.
• If it doesn't come loose, reheat and remove some additional solder from the points on the board.
• Clean up the area when you are done with some 99% IPA (isopropyl alcohol).

Step 5
[step 5 photo] [step 5 photo]
• Insert the pins of the new cable into the existing hole.
• REMINDER: Remember, the red wire is close to the bottom when installing.
• Add solder to the connection points on the opposite side of the circuit board.

Conclusion
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
