Today, we're going to Teardown the Game Boy Pocket to take a a closer look at the components and shell etc.

Tools: Tri-point Y00 Screwdriver Bit; J00 JIS Screwdriver; JIS #000 Screwdriver


Step 1

• Turn the game boy pocket around and remove the battery cover and batteries.
• REMINDER: Please note that I don't have a battery cover.

Step 2

• Using a Y00 screw, remove 6 screws from the back.

Step 3

• Remove back cover.

Step 4

• Remove 4 screws from the cartridge panel using a JIS000 screw.
• Remove cartridge panel.

Step 5

• Remove 3 screws on the motherboard using a JIS00 screw

Step 6

• Push on two lock pins that are locking the ribbon cable for the screen using a spudger.

Step 7

• Using a plastic tweezer, remove the ribbon cable.
• CAUTION: Be careful not to scratch or break the ribbon cable!

Step 8

• Remove motherboard.

Step 9

• Remove covering on buttons.
• Remove buttons.

Step 10

• Remove display using a spudger.
• CAUTION: Be careful not to break the display!

Step 11

• Done!
